A pleasantly fragrant syrup is extracted from the leaves of Mediterranean olive trees, a by-product of olive cultivation. This serves as the sole tanning agent for the robust cowhide leather used in the PORTO range. The patented process for obtaining the wet-green® OBE tanning agent is based on olive leaves as a renewable raw material. The tanning agent has been awarded a “Very Good” Dermatest seal, a Gold Cradle to Cradle certificate and a Platinum Material Health Certificate. This makes the so-called Olivenleder® a unique combination of high-quality leather and an innovative tanning process. The understated design of the Collar emphasises the unique character of the leather. Thanks to its double-folded construction, PORTO fits almost imperceptibly around the dog’s neck like a second skin. The soft edges created by folding over the leather are gentle on the dog’s skin and coat. At first glance, and without knowing about the unique manufacturing process behind Olivenleder®, PORTO hardly attracts attention. At second glance, however, it is all the more captivating, as this purely vegetable-tanned, handcrafted accessory is a true “hidden gem” with an extraordinary material story.
