A training collar, also known as a easy-on collar or slip collar, is a special collar in the form of a loop that can be easily slipped over the dog's head.
The special feature: the built-in, adjustable pull stop. It ensures that the collar only tightens to a certain point – no further. This prevents the dog from being strangled, even if it pulls on the leash.
Important: For this to work, the collar must be adjusted once to fit the dog's neck circumference – there should be about two fingers' width between the collar and the dog, so it should not be too tight, but the dog should not be able to pull itself out of the collar. Once the correct size has been set, it remains constant. If the dog pulls on the leash, the collar briefly tightens – the dog cannot free its head from it, but the pull stop ensures that the collar never becomes too tight. This gives you control without causing discomfort to the dog. Dogs that pull very strongly and persistently on the leash should be given more support by their collar, as otherwise the small contact surface will cause pressure on the dog's neck. This can lead to tissue damage (e.g. muscles, thyroid gland) and cervical spine problems. Frequent leash jerks are also not recommended with this type of collar.
